The variables that determine salary include education in plumbing school, place of work, level (apprentice, officer, or master plumber), years of experience, type of job, and type of employer you work for. The Takeoff software helps plumbers to quickly and accurately estimate the quantities and measurements of materials needed for upcoming jobs. According to Google search trends, searches for plumbers and other local contractors reached their highest levels in five years, as more homeowners launched home improvement projects during the pandemic. After adjusting for cost of living, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin and Nebraska are among the states with the highest median annual wage for plumbers.

To find the highest-paying locations for plumbers, Construction Coverage researchers used wage and labor data from the BLS and data on the U.S. cost of living. UU. CNBC Make It spoke with plumbers, students and administrators about the costs of training, how much plumbers actually earn, and what it's like to work in the profession.

The researchers also calculated the relative concentration of plumbers in each location compared to the national level. We learned that going to trade school to become plumbers isn't necessarily as easy, cheap and cost-effective as some have promised.
